Welcome to the website of Dr Christopher Benwell. I am a lecturer and researcher in Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience. In my lab at the University of Dundee, we employ psychophysics, electroencephalography (EEG) and multivariate data analysis in order to identify the neural activity underlying perceptual experience, metacognition and neurological/psychiatric disorders. I believe that recent technical and analytical advances in neuroscience offer unprecedented potential for the discovery of neurobiological substrates of the cognitive processes at the heart of everyday human experience. Not only is this of fundamental importance for the advancement of neuroscience, but also for the development of novel interventions in clinical neuropsychology and psychiatry.
